We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MEP Cost Engineer / M&E QS to support the commercial and cost management functions for construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for M&E cost estimation, budget control, contract administration, progress claims, variation orders, and final accounts.
This role is ideal for candidates with strong Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) costing and contract administration experience within the construction industry.
Responsibilities
Review quantity take-offs and costing calculations for tender submissions, quotations, and cost analysis purposes.
Review and monitor project site budgets.
Review Monthly Budget Summary Reports and ensure cost control measures are effectively implemented.
Review and verify subcontractors' progress claims and payment applications.
Review progress claims submitted to clients/customers.
Manage and review variation orders (VO) and final accounts with clients.
Review and finalize variation orders and final accounts with subcontractors and suppliers.
Liaise closely with project teams, consultants, and design teams on costing and commercial matters.
Ensure compliance with Kajima Total Management Systems, company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the superior from time to time.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related disciplines.
Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience in M&E costing, commercial, contract administration, or cost engineering within the construction industry.
Hands-on experience in:
BQ preparation and quantity take-off
Cost estimation and tendering
Budget monitoring and cost control
Progress claims
Variation orders (VO)
Final account preparation and negotiation
Subcontract administration
Strong understanding of M&E systems and construction costs.
Good negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and cost management practices.
