JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Development and implementation of EHS management system to drive compliance with all relevant country of operation safety and environmental regulations.
  • Ensure that all regional and local programs are aligned with global programs.
  • With Global EHS Head, develop strategic EHS plans to meet annual goals and objectives.
  • Determine priorities for safety and health investigations.
  • Drive the investigations to mitigate a repeat incident (Act as Lead Investigator where appropriate).
  • Develop appropriate engineering or work process modifications to prevent worker illness or injury.
  • Review and approve all production equipment, engineering controls, workspace plans prior to implementation.
  • Ensure that regional inspections and job hazard (risk) analyses are conducted and that corrective actions are identified and implemented, prior to employees being qualified.
  • Meet regional EHS/Environmental training requirements.
  • Has the authority to stop production on equipment, process, other activities if safety risks not addressed.
  • Approve local industrial hygiene sampling strategies and results.
  • Serve as EHS/Environmental support to the site Management Teams.
  • Serve as hazardous materials support to the emergency response teams.
  • Support Engineering design of new processes or installations where hazardous materials will be used or hazardous processes will be located.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science (or country equivalent) in Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be suitable for this position.
  • CSP or CHMM equivalent certification desired.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience required with EHS management system related functions and administration within the chemical, metal finishing, semiconductor or similar industry.
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations including storm water, air/water and waste.
  • Experience with shipping dangerous goods by ground and air.
  • Demonstrated experience in EHS program requirements, including, but not limited to, accident investigation, powered industrial trucks, respiratory protection, personal protective equipment, hearing conservation, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, life safety, machine guarding, and property conservation.
  • Demonstrated experience in hazardous materials emergency response team development, implementation and administration required.
  • Direct experience with the operation and maintenance of waste water treatment systems preferred.
  • Direct experience with the operation and maintenance of air pollution abatement equipment preferred.
  • Multi-site leadership required.
  • ISO 14001/OSHAS 18001 experience preferred.
