JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage risk, maintain a positive reputation, avoid lawsuits and contribute to robust and effective compliance controls within the organization
  • Ensure the operations and business transactions follow all relevant legal and internal rules and provide advice on compliance to avoid lawsuits etc
  • Work together with HQ to develop and implement an effective legal compliance program
  • Keep up to date with and understand relevant laws and regulations
  • Create and develop internal controls and monitor adherence to them
  • Proactively audit processes, practices and documents to identify weaknesses
  • Evaluate business activities (e.g. investments) to assess compliance risk
  • Set plans and proposal to manage a crisis or compliance violation
  • Educate and train employees on regulations and industry practices
  • Review all kind of contracts and agreements of the company as and when required
  • Keep abreast of internal standards and business goals
  • Initiate, coordinate, conduct and manage internal investigation on irregularities and non-compliance issues on an independent and confidential basis
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors when needed
  • Collaborate with other divisions or departments to deal with relevant government departments for any inquiry or compliance (e.g. MPK, Customs, LHDN, Immigration)
  • Address employee concerns or questions on legal compliance
  • Perform any other tasks as and when required by HOD from time to time

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Laws or professional certification related to compliance and laws
  • Minimum 5 years of related working experience
  • Experience in risk management
  • Knowledge of legal requirements and controls (e.g. Compliance Act, MACC Act, Customs Act, Contract Act, Labour Law etc)
  • Familiar with industry practices and professional standards
