JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Be an integral part in shaping the pioneering, agile, and exciting APAC Communications team at KL SSC (‘Hub’)
Manage and support the country internal and external communications activities, including crisis communications and sustainability communications across Japan.
Ensure a consistent strategy across all communications channels
Collaborate with teams on ground in Japan and in the hub, to ensure service quality to stakeholders
Develop and implement the country external and internal communications strategy
Responsible for content development across various mediums, such as press releases, Q&A, press conference briefing, interview briefing document, staff profiling, Japan country report, social engagement event such as Kids’ Lab, beach clean-up, intranet articles, internal communication campaigns, management message, event survey, performance reporting, etc.
Manage the news release distribution process in Japan
Support media interview of country management, while working with the senior communications colleague on-ground in Japan
Build and maintain media relations where possible, remotely – for eg: handling queries after new release distribution, briefing journalists, etc, while working with the senior communications colleague on-ground in Japan
Develop concept and content for annual country report
Update corporate website – translating and/or creating articles; ensuring the website is up to date according to global updates
Update corporate presentations (global and country)
Support corporate business development communication projectsResponsible for Japan intranet updates – maintaining relevant content, creating interesting and interactive content for employees across Japan
Develop the internal newsletter “Chem Chem in Japan” as a chief editor – create content and make it rich and relevant for internal audiences. Use the latest tools to make it interactive and engaging
Support internal communication events such as social engagement activities, company-wide communication meeting, employee engagement event, etc
Support crisis com-related content – statements, Q&A, internal message, etc., by collaborating with colleagues on ground in Japan
Support corporate projects such as Company Japan’s Employee Engagement Project and Japan Sustainability Roadmap – development of newsletter, presentation development support, etc.
Support roll out global/regional communications campaigns and initiatives
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in public relations, mass communication, or related fields
Significantly demonstrated success in internal and external communications in a multicultural corporate environment.
Generalist communicators will be preferred.
Minimum experience of 6-8 years in relevant role
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities at once
Excellent command of Japanese in spoken and written form
Working knowledge of Japanese markets
Attention to detail, creative and results orientated
Excellent working knowledge of basic computer programs
