A leading global semiconductor organization is seeking Product Engineers across multiple experience levels to join its team in Penang. This role spans sustaining engineering, new product introduction (NPI), and full product lifecycle ownership for high-volume semiconductor products.
You will play a critical role in ensuring product robustness, reliability, and manufacturability, supporting product qualification from early development through high-volume manufacturing. This includes defining qualification strategies, executing reliability testing, and driving failure investigations.
Working closely with cross-functional teams—including Design, Test, Failure Analysis, Manufacturing, Quality, and external suppliers—you will ensure products meet stringent industry, automotive, and customer reliability standards while delivering strong performance, yield, and cost efficiency.
Note: Level and title will be determined based on candidate experience, skills, and demonstrated impact.
 

  • Core Responsibilities (All Levels)

  • Support product lifecycle from development through high-volume production and end-of-life

  • Drive yield improvement, cost optimization (COGS), and quality performance

  • Define and support qualification strategies and reliability testing

  • Monitor production data and perform statistical analysis to identify trends and issues

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Design, Test, QA, Reliability, Operations, OSAT)

  • Investigate and resolve manufacturing issues, yield excursions, and customer returns (RMA/FA)

  • Ensure compliance with JEDEC/AEC and customer-specific standards
     

  • Additional Responsibilities by Level

  • Senior Product Engineer (3+ years)

    • Focus on sustaining engineering and high-volume manufacturing support

    • Manage abnormal lots, yield issues, and production disruptions
      Support PCRB activities (process changes, second source, qualifications)

    • Improve test processes and prevent quality excursions

  • Staff Product Engineer (7+ years)

    • Own product lifecycle from concept to production release

    • Develop and execute test plans to meet datasheet specifications

    • Drive NPI, characterization, qualification, and production ramp

    • Generate and maintain product BOM

    • Optimize PAT, SYL, SBL, SPC limits to balance quality and cost

    • Manage supplier/customer excursions and escalations

  • Senior Staff Product Engineer (12+ years)

    • Provide technical leadership and full product ownership

    • Lead first silicon debug, characterization, and yield ramp strategy

    • Drive product quality, reliability, and margin improvements

    • Handle complex customer escalations and cross-site issues

    • Mentor engineers and guide technical decision-making

    • Influence product, test, and manufacturing strategies

 

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or related field

  • Experience in semiconductor product engineering, reliability, test, or manufacturing

  • Strong data analysis skills (e.g., JMP, Spotfire, or similar tools)

  • Good understanding of semiconductor IC processes and high-volume manufacturing

  • Strong communication skills in English

  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience by Level

    • Senior Product Engineer: 3+ years

    • Staff Product Engineer: 7+ years

    • Senior Staff Product Engineer: 12+ years

  • Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with ATE platforms (Teradyne J750, Advantest 93K)

    • Knowledge of analog & mixed-signal circuits and device physics

    • Familiarity with JEDEC/AEC qualification and reliability standards

    • Experience with lab equipment and product characterization

    • Knowledge of failure analysis and reliability engineering

    • Experience in power ICs (e.g., drivers, power stages, modules)
