Recruitment Phishing Scams Targeting Job Seekers

The number of instances of job recruitment scams has been increasing in the past few years. These scams involve the scammer posing as a JAC Recruitment Consultant on social media apps like Facebook, WeChat, Line, Telegram, and WhatsApp, asking potential candidates for money in exchange for a job or interview. They also phish for personal information such as your name, age and other personal details.

Please beware – this is a scam. At JAC, we will never ask you for money in return for an interview or a job. It is against our code of conduct and business values to do so. Applying for any of the jobs on our websites does not cost a thing and JAC Recruitment does not charge fees to job seekers for its placement services.

JAC Recruitment Malaysia will also never ask you for your personal information like your passwords, identification card or bank account details.

If you receive a message from someone impersonating a JAC Consultant on any social media platforms seeking your personal information including bank account details, passwords, or other sensitive information with the promise of a job opportunity, please don’t respond.

​What is a scam?

Scams are an attempt by real criminals to purposefully mislead you in a way in order to take your money. Scams can come from different people and can surface in different ways. It is important to be aware of what a scam might look like and what the risks involved are, regardless of your age, background or income.

​How can I protect myself from a job scam?


1. Remember JAC Recruitment Malaysia Consultants will never ask you for money in exchange for a job or an interview
2. Do not click on any links that might be sent to you
3. Do not provide your personal information such as bank account details, credit card number, IC number, home address, etc.
4. JAC Consultants will only email you from @jac-recruitment.com emails. If you receive an email from a different domain (not jac-recruitment.com) then please do not reply.

How can I identify real job opportunities?

We encourage you to only register as a candidate on our secure JAC Recruitment Malaysia website: https://www.jac-recruitment.my/.

Email communication from JAC Recruitment sent by JAC Recruitment consultants uses the e-mail domain @jac-recruitment.com. Should you receive an email from a different domain claiming to be from a consultant at JAC Recruitment, do not reply.

​Report a Recruitment Scam:

If you suspect that you have been the victim of a recruitment scam, it is crucial that you take swift action to report the fraudulent activity and file a report with a trusted authority. This can include contacting local law enforcement or an organisation that specialises in addressing online scams. It is important to act promptly to minimise any potential damage to yourself or others.
