JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To help the company to manage risk, maintain a positive reputation, avoid lawsuit and contribute to robust and effective compliance controls within the organisation.
- Ensure the operations and business transactions follow all relevant legal and internal rules and provide advice on compliance to avoid lawsuits etc.
- Work together with Japan HQ to develop and implement on effective legal compliance program.
- Keep up to date with and understand relevant laws and regulations.
- Create and develop internal controls and monitor adherence to them.
- Proactively audit processes, practices and documents to identify weaknesses.
- Evaluate business activities (e.g. investments) to assess compliance risk.
- Set plans and proposal to manage a crisis or compliance violation.
- Educate and train employees on regulations and industry practices.
- Review all kind of contracts and agreements of the company as and when required.
- Keep abreast of internal standards and business goals.
- Investigate irregularities and non-compliance issues.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors when needed.
- Collaborate with other divisions or departments to deal with relevant government departments for any inquiry or compliance (e.g. MPK, Customs, LHDN, Immigration).
- Address employee concerns or questions on legal compliance.
- Perform any other tasks as and when required by HOD from time to time.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Laws or professional certification related to compliance and laws
- Proven experience (at least 5 years) as a Compliance Officer or Compliance Manager
- Experience in risk management
- Knowledge of legal requirements and controls (e.g. Companies Act, MACC Act, Customs Act, Contract Act, Labour Laws etc)
- Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards
- Excellent communication skills
