JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operation, maintenance, Isolation and Deisolation and troubleshooting of electrical systems including: High/Medium/Low voltage substations and switchgears, Motor Control Centers, Variable Frequency Drives, Battery & UPS system, Electrical control systems Electrical measuring & billing systems Motors & heaters, Power generators, Transformers, portable electrical consumers Lighting, grounding, domestic electrical installations, PA system, communication and alarm systems, CCTV Predictive Maintenance tools - Partial Discharge monitoring, Transient Earth Voltage Measurement, Thermography etc.
  • Authority for ECP Training and Accessment Perform Electrical Energy isolation and Deisolation according to company Standards and producers.
  • Assess and train Electrical Competent person (ECPs) to maintain Electrical system, support trouble shooting works, Supervise and support Electrical isolations and Deisolations works carried out by ECPs.
  • Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Electrical Works -- Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish the work.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Making Decisions and Solving Problems - Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Support Plant Reliability action plan.
  • Undertake work in accordance with the Limit of Authority given in the Electrical Safety Rules.
  • Documenting/Recording Information – daily Activity records or maintaining information in written or electronic form.
  • Develop & implement a strategy for maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
  • This includes: identification of obsolescence issues and planning & execution of suitable upgrade & exchange programs.
  • Support and carry out Electrical equipment’s Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Condition Based Maintenance (CBM).
  • Maintain updated version of Electrical documentation such as Single line Diagram, Interconnection diagram, vendor documents, Manuals, cable schedule etc.
  • Support, Carry out and update Changes in Electrical system according to approved EMOC (Engineering Modification of Change).
  • Support Electrical Audits and closing of CARS
  • Support and perform investigation of electrical system related trips.
  • Support to carry out root cause failure analysis (RCA).
  • Feedback any learnings from any incident to the reliability improvement.

JOB REQUIREMENT

  • Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering or High Voltage Chargeman certificate
  • 3-5 years of experience as electrical maintenance in process plants or Power plants with high voltage systems/Low voltage system
  • Experience in operating, maintaining, troubleshooting of electrical systems.
  • Experience with electrical isolation and de-isolation.
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical equipment and systems.
  • Good background in electrical safety with knowledge of hazards involved in operation and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Basic knowledge of AUS/HYCO/CO2 plants including the associated hazards
  • Experience in root couse failure analysis.
  • An Electrical Responsible Person (ERP) is someone who is suitably trained, qualified and experienced to oversee electrical work (including electrical hazard identification), ensuring it is performed effectively, safely, efficiently and in accordance with local codes and regulations (as applicable).
  • ERPs must be authorised and registered locally. (Holding at least B0 Certificate from Energy Commission Malaysia, or H1 certificate from Sarawak Eletrical Inspectorate Unit)
