Job Responsibilities:
- Translate written and spoken content from Japanese to the target language and vice versa. This may include documents, articles, or other forms of communication.
- Ensure accuracy, clarity, and cultural relevance in the translation process.
- Provide interpretation services during meetings, conferences, or other events where real-time language translation is required.
- Interpret spoken words accurately and convey the intended meaning in the target language.
- Maintain detailed records of translated documents, projects, and terminology glossaries.
- Follow established style guides and ensure consistency in terminology and language usage.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Japanese and a high level of proficiency in the target language.
- Strong understanding of grammar, syntax, and idiomatic expressions in both languages.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in translation, linguistics, Japanese studies, or a related field is often preferred.
- Previous experience as a translator, preferably in a professional setting or within a specific industry (e.g., legal, medical, technical).
- Knowledge of Japanese culture and customs to accurately convey cultural nuances in translations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and the target language.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality, error-free translations.
- Proficiency in translation tools and software, as well as the ability to adapt to new technologies.
