Company Overview 

 

Our client is an established and fast-growing food manufacturing company preparing to launch a new production facility in Johor. As they expand their operations, they are seeking a highly capable and experienced Operations Manager to lead the setup and daily management of the new factory. This is a key leadership role with the opportunity to shape operational excellence from the ground up.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  •  Lead and manage daily factory operations across production, quality control, logistics, and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies, systems, and workflows to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements, including HACCP, GMP, ISO, and Halal standards.
  • Oversee the setup and commissioning of the new factory, working closely with contractors, suppliers, and government authorities.
  • Manage resource planning—including labour, materials, and equipment—to ensure timely and smooth production output.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a diverse operations team to achieve high performance and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and Japan teams to align production goals with business objectives.
  • Manage departmental budgets and implement cost control measures.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues promptly and implement effective solutions.

 

Job Requirements 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Food Science, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of food manufacturing processes, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in production management systems, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Office tools.
  • At least 7 years of experience in operations management, preferably in the food manufacturing sector.
  • Experience in setting up and commissioning a new manufacturing facility is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar improvement methodologies is an advantage.
