A global leader in software-connected automated test and measurement systems is seeking a Staff Hardware Digital Engineer to join its engineering team in Penang.
In this role, you will lead the redesign and validation of hardware systems, focusing on replacing end-of-life (EOL) components while minimizing changes to software and hardware topology.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and propose alternative components with minimal impact on system architecture.

  • Simulate and implement designs using CAD tools (e.g., Mentor Graphics).

  • Validate and debug hardware redesigns during verification and manufacturing builds.

  • Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations using structured methods (e.g., fishbone diagrams).

  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to integrate DFM inputs and improve product yield.

  • Develop proof-of-concept designs to support redesign proposals.

  • Document project progress and communicate solutions to stakeholders.

  • Mentor junior engineers and lead technical documentation efforts.

  • Create debug tools and training materials for manufacturing teams.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in analog/digital design, with expertise in board-level design or VHDL/System Verilog.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.

     

  • Strong background in HDL IP design or digital circuit design.

  • Experience with high-speed interface routing constraints.

  • Proficient in CPU/SoC/Microcontroller circuit design.

  • Skilled in using standard hardware lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, power supplies).

  • Familiarity with test automation using scripting or programming languages.

  • Demonstrated ability to:

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.

  • Learn new technologies and systems quickly.

  • Take ownership of product success and drive tasks to completion.

  • Manage time efficiently and work independently.

  • Collaborate in fast-paced, team-oriented development environments.
